Eternity

What are you planning on doing tomorrow? What are you planning on doing next week? Next year? In a few years? We often have plans for what we are going to be doing in the future. High schoolers plan for what they are going to be doing after graduation. College students plan for what job they will be getting and where they will be living after college. Those working in their career will be making family plans and retirement plans. Those retired will be making plans to enjoy their retirement.

But we often forget to plan for eternity. The decisions that we make NOW and throughout our entire life will determine where we will spend eternity. In a generation now we seem to always be focused on the here and now. But we should be looking at the big picture and think how the decisions that I make today will affect my eternity.06a2a7d9540c0c8fc7132914041a1d431

When God created man, He created us to inhabit two worlds. The physical body God gave us allows us to in- habit this physical world. The spiritual soul that God gave us allows us to inhabit a spiritual realm. Once our time is complete here on this physical earth, there are only two distinct places where our soul can spend eternity. Matthew 25:46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Our eternal destiny is determined by the type of life that we live here on this earth and that destiny will be unchanged once this life is over. After our physical death, there are NO SECOND CHANCES. Hebrews 9:27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment. There will be a judgment that we will all face once this physical life is over.

The question I leave you with today is, how are you preparing for eternity? The greatest decision you will ever make is the decision you make in regards to Jesus Christ. Will I follow Jesus Christ or will I turn from him? Today ask the question, “What will I do with Jesus?” because on the day of judgement the question will be “What will Jesus do with me?”
