How Can We Improve Our Marriage?

Genesis 2:21-24 says And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept, and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man. Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. We see from the beginning, marriage is a divine institution that God has arranged. Here, we see the oneness that exists between the man & the woman. Scripture teaches us that marriage creates the closest of human relationships. Marriage creates a bond between husband & wife that is set apart from one’s parents. Improving our marriage requires us to understand God’s original design.

The purpose of marriage is: for companionship (Gen. 2:18-25), for procreation (Gen. 1:27-28), to avoid fornication (I Cor. 7:2).

Marriage is: a God-given relationship (Gen. 2:18-24), a over all human relationship (Eph. 5:22-23), joined together by God (Matt. 19:6), permanent, for life, till death (Rom. 7:1-4), for one man & one woman (Matt. 19:4).
