Who’s More Right? Be Cautious….

We all want to be aligned with groups, organizations, and populations that are right when it comes to morals, policies, & spiritual matters. The problem becomes when we begin to have righteous expectations of man-made institutions. If we want to be considered right in the secular world, we need to be guided by Scripture, not organization affiliation!

Righteousness is commanded: I Timothy 6:11 says But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, goodness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. We know in the preceding verses the warning has to do with staying from focusing on materials & chasing worldly contentment which makes man foolish. If we pursue spiritual righteousness we are showing our love for God.

The righteous live by faith: Romans 10:3 says For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. Man forgets where righteousness comes from and as Paul says, “establishes his own.” We must be cautious of what we subscribe to in our lives.

The blessing of righteousness is eternal life: II Timothy 4:8 says Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. Knowing eternal life is at stake should motivate us to follow God’s plan & not follow man’s folly.

Righteousness is not obtained by membership or registration but by submission to Christ. Choosing the lesser of two evils means we are choosing evil. Let’s stop being concerned with who’s more right! Will you seek the righteousness of God?
