Church Camp, “Mission Possible”

In the early days of television, a TV series entitled, “Mission Impossible” had a successful run.  Mission: Impossible is an American espionage television series that aired on CBS from September 1966 to March 1973.  While I don’t remember watching the series in syndication, I do remember the distinct theme song.  Even today, that song can still be heard and is probably the ringtone on someone’s cell phone.  When you hear that song, you know it indicates something is serious, a “mission” is about to be undertaken, and the “good guys” always win.  As a parent, I have seen this mindset take place over the years when “camp plans” are being made.  We are so thankful for everyone who began attending camp plan meetings months ago, started brainstorming, and shaping plans for the mission of strengthening “campers” and “volunteers” as they seek to walk closer to Christ.  Everyone who attends camp or serves in any capacity walks away with a greater understanding of these three things:

1) Teamwork- I Corinthians 3:9 says For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. Christian workers strive for oneness, leaning on each other while accomplishing tasks for the Kingdom. Working & serving God makes the labor easy & satisfying.

2) Investment- I Corinthians 15:58 says Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. Having the greatest job or running the most successful business pales in comparison when toiling for the Master.

3) Relationships- Acts 2:46-47 says So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Campers and Volunteers worshiped and sang songs of praise to God several times each day. Being away from the world created a greater desire to worship God. Each one grew closer to each other and more importantly, to our Father.

Hopefully, by the time our bulletin comes out, everyone who participated at camp will be rested and recovered from exerting their “all” at camp last week.  Everyone at camp made this mission “possible.”  THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!
