Faith

We consider ourselves “faithful.” We have obeyed the Gospel, we participate in the work of the local church, & we seek to evangelize. Let’s examine the necessity of faith, the nature of faith, and the action of faith.

1. The necessity of faith: Hebrews 11:6 says But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Believing is a must before one has the right to become a child of God.

2. The nature of faith: Acts 9:22 says But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that Jesus is the Christ. Wayne Jackson sums it by saying, “The New Testament clearly indicates that faith involves much more than having a conviction concerning the Lord, or even a willingness to trust Him. Faith also involves submitting to the divine will in obedience to Heaven requirements.”

3. The action of faith: Mark 2:1-5 says And again He entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house. Immediately many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door. And He preached the word to them. Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, son, your sins are forgiven you. Christ saw the action of these men, even the one who was sick endorsed the activity.

Let our actions reflect our faith in Christ!
