Getting Comfortable with Sin

A woman makes a frantic phone call to 911.

She tells the operator she is being killed.

The police officers quickly arrive on the scene. Sadly, they find her deceased on the kitchen floor. A large kitchen knife is on the floor close to her hand.

The officers follow a trail of blood out of the kitchen and into the next room. It is here that they find a dying boa constrictor. The snake had killed the woman.

She was not afraid of the snake at all.

Apparently, the woman made a habit of cooking her evening meals with her pet snake wrapped around her.

They had settled into a routine and thus had done this numerous times before.

However, on this particular occasion, something was different.

On this night, before the woman even realized what was happening, the snake began to constrict.

And…once the snake began to constrict…it was too late.

She tried defending herself and attempted to remove the snake by stabbing it with the kitchen knife she had in her hand. It was to no avail.

Spiritual Application:

Don’t invite sin into your life!

Don’t get comfortable with sin!

If you recognize sin in your life, get rid of it now before it is too late!

Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:12-13

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2
