P.P.E.

I fully realize that for those associated in most any way with the field of medicine, the term “PPE” is not new. However, for folks like me, I was unaware of the acronym until just a few months ago.

Thanks to the pandemic, I now know that “PPE” stands for Personal Protective Equipment.

While there is much more to it for medical professionals, for the average person this just includes items like masks and gloves—objects that are meant to keep us safe and healthy from viruses and germs.

For the Christian, the Lord has provided us with a special divine version of Personal Protection Equipment. You may be thinking right away of the Armor of God mentioned in Ephesians 6. Let me highlight just a few pieces of the protective equipment God has provided:

God’s Word—the Sword of the Spirit (Eph. 6:17) “…take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”

· To stay spiritually strong and healthy, we must be reading the Bible!

Prayer (Eph. 6:18) “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints”

· To stay spiritually strong and healthy, we must remain constant and fervent in prayer.

The Church (1 Thess. 5:11) “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are dong.”

· To stay spiritually strong and healthy, we must remain connected to our brothers and sisters in Christ—our God-given church family!

Let’s be wise, faithful, and obedient. Let’s stay safe & healthy. Let’s use the PPE’s that God has given us!
