Thank You

Paraphrasing Lou Gehrig’s speech from 1939 after he had received the news regarding his health while speaking to the New York Yankee fans, he said in sum, “Yet today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth…I have always received kindness and encouragement.” The contents of Gehrig’s speech summarizes how I feel about the family of South Green Street.

I continue to count my blessings in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3) as a Christian, but also as a member of this church family. This Congregation continues to allow me to grow spiritually, evangelistically, and in unity with this body of believers.

Our Congregation demonstrates the qualities of Christ’s Spirit: humility (Phil. 2:5-8), obedience (John 6:38-39), love (John 3:16), faith & trust in God (John 5:30), compassion & tenderness (Luke 7:36-50), and a willingness to sacrifice (Hebrews 2:9) while striving to do the will of the Father (Matthew 7:21).

Our Congregation demonstrates a desire to grow evangelistically. We strive to study God’s Word (II Tim. 2:15), grow in knowledge (II Peter 3:18), search Scripture (Acts 17:10-11) while teaching others (Hebrews 5:12-14).

Our Congregation demonstrates a desire for unity. We have a common Father (Gen. 1:1), a common family (I Tim. 3:15), common salvation (Titus 2:11-12), and a common hope of reward (Rev. 2:10). We desire a love for one another so we can have a Heavenly Home together (Matthew 25:46).

I am thankful to our Elders and you for the opportunity to continue to serve in an expanded role!
