The Supply Chain

As we look back on history one day, one of the many phrases we will remember during this chapter of our life is “The Supply Chain.”  Simply put, due to the Coronavirus “shutting down” or reducing activity in all walks of life where products are created, consumers have had to wait for things we could normally get much quicker.  Products from toothpaste to truck frames have been delayed for one reason or another, but “experts” always point to the delay due to the supply chain being backed up.   One major news outlet described the supply chain challenge as this:  “The rapid spread of the virus in 2020 prompted shutdowns of industries around the world and, while most of us were in lockdown, there was lower consumer demand and reduced industrial activity.  As lockdowns have lifted, demand has rocketed. And supply chains that were disrupted during the global health crisis are still facing huge challenges and are struggling to bounce back.  This has led to chaos for the manufacturers and distributors of goods who cannot produce or supply as much as they did pre-pandemic for a variety of reasons, including worker shortages and a lack of key components and raw materials.”  On some level in one or more areas of our life, we all have been negatively impacted by not getting something we want or need because the item has not been available.  When this happened, we then had to slow down our plans or stop a project we are working on.  How did we feel?  Frustrated?  Had our plans been foiled because we couldn’t get what we needed?  I’d say we all would answer with a resounding “YES” to these questions.

While our plans may have been interrupted the last couple of years because of not getting what we have needed, aren’t we thankful when we become frustrated, hurt, confused, and experience uncertainty in life, we can turn to God’s Word because we can always be filled!?  Our delay in understanding God’s expectations, comfort, and direction are never limited because we are blessed to have continual access to the will of God.  When we seek to be filled with Scripture, we will be pleasing to God.  When we spurn the hardness of the world and mediate on the Word of God, we are strengthening our walk with Christ.  Psalm 119:1-2 says Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart.

God’s Word not only supplies us, but sustains us.  The words we hold in our hand in book form or in digital form, truly allows us to be comforted in our trouble, shielded from sin, shows us the necessity to repent, and prepares us for Heaven through the Plan of Salvation.  Let us remember, the Bible is not only complete, unified, and indestructible, the Bible…

1. Contains all things pertaining to life/Godliness  II Peter 1:3

2. Completely furnishes us  II Timothy 3:16-17

3. Reminds us the obedient will be blessed  James 1:25

4. Is enduring  Matthew 24:35

5. Shall stand forever  I Peter 1:23-25

From a commerce, product, and supply standpoint, we may not fully get back to where we have all the things we want to purchase or order as quickly as in the past, but we should be thankful we can be confident that God supplies us with all we need, when we need it!
